We collaborated with the British Council, the Mumbai Academy of Moving Image (MAMI), the British Film Institute and other partners to bring the global programme ‘Shakespeare Lives on Film’ to India featuring its ambassador and an award-winning British actor Sir Ian Mckellen. The inaugural event, which also marked the launch of MAMI Film Club, witnessed the two cinematic legends, Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan and Sir Ian Mckellen, in a conversation about Shakespeare’s world-wide influence on education, society and culture. Attended by the who’s who of the Indian film & business fraternity, the star-studded event saw the likes of Kangana Ranaut, Sonam Kapoor, Kiran Rao, Kabir Khan, Rajkumar Rao, Vidhu Vinod Chopra and many more amongst the other 150 well-known faces. An exclusive screening of Richard III was also presented by Sir Ian McKellen, who has played the title role in the movie, on the second day.
